A local initiative started by a young craftsman who believed opportunity should exist at home.
After leaving school early, Yankuba Jatta trained at GTTI and founded Triple C in 2015. The center was built to discourage irregular migration and create employable opportunities in Kartong and surrounding communities.
How the center began
Triple C Vocational Skills Training Center was founded in 2015 in Kartong by Yankuba Jatta. After leaving school at a young age, he trained as a carpenter at GTTI and set out to create a practical path for other young people.
The center was created to help reduce irregular migration pressure in Kartong by building local opportunity through employable skills. Early support from two philanthropists in Holland helped turn Yankuba's idea into a functioning training institution.

Founded in Kartong
In 2015, Yankuba Jatta established Triple C at the entrance of Kartong village in Kombo South, about 60 km from Banjul, serving a local population of around 9,020.
- Early years
Carpentry and joinery as the first stream
The center began with carpentry and joinery training, responding to local demand for practical, marketable skills for youth.
- Program expansion
Programs expanded for wider access
The center expanded from carpentry and joinery to tailoring and fashion design, hairdressing and beauty cosmetology, and catering, serving youth, women, and differently abled persons.
- Graduation milestones
Early employment outcomes
Within its first three years, the institution graduated 110 youths and reported that 85% were employed or working professionally for other businesses.

Accreditation, governance, and continuity
Triple C is licensed and accredited by NAQAA, is a NAVSTI member, is overseen by a board of directors, and has held two graduation ceremonies in 2023 and 2025.
